and the Magic Spots

Early one morning as Snuffles came downstairs for breakfast he was surprised to see a letter on his doormat. "I wonder who this is from" he thought, eagerly tearing the envelope open. It was from his cousin Millie. She had been spending a few days with Aunt Harriet and she thought it would be nice to call in on Snuffles on her way home and perhaps spend a few days with him as well.
She would be arriving at 3 O'clock on the following Wednesday afternoon, "How nice", thought Snuffles, "its such a long time since I've seen her". Then he had another thought, "wherever is she going to sleep"?

He pondered for a moment, "I know, the attic, mind you it will need clearing out first".

Mr Blackbird who had been staying in the attic afterSnuffles had accidentally swept his nest from the chimney, had moved out a few days earlier and although he had been good company during the long winter evenings, he had left the attic in an awful mess.

"it could really do with a new coat of paint" decided Snuffles.

"I' ll go and see if Daisy would like to help". Daisy was delighted to hear that Millie was coming to stay. "Won't we have fun" she laughed,
"I' ll help you get her room ready. I'm sure there's some pink paint left from when we decorated my bedroom, let us go and ask Dad".
Mr Dormouse took them out to his shed at the bottom of the garden and found the pink paint along with two paint brushes. "We'll start first thing in the morning Daisy" said Snuffles. He thanked Mr Dormouse and returned home where he spent the remainder of the day clearing out the attic and covering the furniture with sheets to keep it clean.

Daisy arrived bright and early and they started work straight away. It was a pleasant sunny day and the sun streamed through the windows. Snuffles and Daisy were quite enjoying themselves, chatting happily as they slapped paint onto the walls and in no time they had painted half the room. "Daisy could you help me move this dressing table please?" asked Snuffles. Daisy put down her brush and turned round.

"Daisy! Are you all right, your face is covered in spots!" cried Snuffles in alarm. Daisy rushed over and peered into the mirror, Snuffles was right, she was covered in spots! Suddenly she felt quite ill. "I think I'd better go home" she said faintly, "I don't feel at all well."
