Snuffles and Daisy Go Exploring

It was a hot sunny day and Snuffles and Daisy were down at the stream paddling their toes in the cool clear water. Suddenly Snuffles had an idea.
"I know," he said brightly, "let's go exploring!

"Exploring?" said Daisy, "where?" "Well, I've always wondered what's on the other side of the wood behind those big trees, we could go and have a look. We might even find treasure!!" cried Snuffles, now getting quite excited about his idea. "It's rather a long way," said Daisy dubiously. "It'll be all right, come on", said Snuffles, slipping on his bright red boots and holding on to Daisy's paw.

They walked and walked until at last they reached the other side of Warren Hill Wood, where they were confronted by a very large bushy hedge. "It doesn't look as if we can go any further," said Daisy, rather relieved. Snuffles, however, was still too excited about their adventure to be put off exploring, and was trying very hard to see between the branches. "I think there's a gap, if I can just reach . . . . .aaaaagh!" cried Snuffles.

"Oh look," gasped Daisy in delight. "there are all kinds of flowers everywhere. The bright warm sunshine enhanced all the beautiful colours that spread out before them.
"Come on, let's take a closer look," whispered Snuffles, and so they tiptoed softly accross the lawn.

They were admiring some of the beautiful flowers when Daisy felt something
tickle her ear. "What was that?" she asked, looking up. Then she felt it again! This time she just caught sight of a butterfly before it hid behind some purple
Lupins.

"I think he must be playing hide and seek with you," laughed Snuffles. And
he was right. When Daisy wasn't looking the butterfly would swoop down and tickle her
before hiding again.

Daisy looked round, but Snuffles had disappeared. "Snuffles, where are you?" cried Daisy. "Down here!" came a muffled reply. Daisy ran alongside the hedge until she found the gap Snuffles had fallen through. "Oh Snuffles are you all right?" called Daisy anxiously. Snuffles had rolled into a tight ball as he had fallen though the gap. He
now uncurled himself and stood up. "I'm all right," he laughed brushing bits of twigs and leaves off his prickles.

Daisy scambled through the hedge and stood beside him. "Now how are we going to get through here?" said Daisy. There was another smaller hedge which they squeezed through easily. On the other side of the hedge was the most beautiful garden they had ever seen.

Daisy thought it was very funny. The butterfly had her running round and round in circles until she collapsed, helpless with laughter. Suddenly, the butterfly disappeared and the garden became very quiet. Then there seemed to be movement and noise coming from the big house beyond the garden. Snuffles and Daisy scurried over to the flower bed and hid behind a large rose bush.

"Oh dear!" cried Daisy, "whatever are we going to do now?"
