Snow White's Apple Pie like this page ?, tell a friend
 

Ingredients -

*450g/1lb cooking apples, peeled, cored and sliced
*120g/4oz castor sugar
*1-2tsp ground cinnamon
*
340g/12oz shortcrust pastry
*1 egg beaten, for glazing
*40z icing sugar, for sprinkling on before serving


Instructions -

*Heat oven to 200C/400F/Gas 6
*Roll out half the pastry and use to line a 5cm/2inch deep pie dish
*Mix together the apples, sugar and cinnamon and pile into the dish
*Roll out the rest of the pastry to make a lid, seal to the pastry base, trim the pastry and crimp the edges.
*Cut an air hole in the centre and brush with beaten egg to glaze the pie
*Bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes until the pastry is cooked and golden and the apples are tender.
*Serve hot or cold, sprinkling the icing sugar over the pie for a true Snow White effect.
