At 1977 Prices

Labyrinth
The ‘chic punk’ look, complete with zips, buckles and chains is set to be the latest footwear fashion for winter 2003. But whereas yesterday’s rebels, misfits and anti-heroes had to head to the Kings Road for their footwear, today’s fashionistas can get the look at their local shopping centre.

Footwear fashion guru Beverley Wheeler at Shoe Express believes that while 1977 may have been the year that punk fashion spewed out onto the streets, 2003 is going to see punk influenced shoe styles hit the high street near you.

Wheeler, Women’s Footwear Buyer at Shoe Express, shouted:

“Chic punk is the footwear trend for women wanting to make a fashion statement with serious attitude this winter.

“A number of the top designers, including Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana and Jil Sander all drew inspiration from Malcolm Mclaren and Vivienne Westwood’s original punk designs for their autumn/winter 2003 collections.

“Today’s chart toppers, such as Pink, Kelly Osborne and the sulky teen sensation Avril Lavigne have also helped resurrect the spirit of 1977 with their outrageous punk-inspired stage gear.

“What we’ve done at Shoe Express is to translate some of these looks for the high street. We’ve also stuck up two-fingers to three-figure designer pricing by giving our boots a price-tag even the most anarchist and anti-capitalist of fashion followers would appreciate.”

Odyssey

Shoe Express’s chic punk styles range from over-the-knee black synthetic stretch boots with three-inch stiletto for girls with serious attitude to black leather pointed toe boots with buckle and strap. The over-the-knee Odyssey boot has a viciously competitive price at £35.00, while the strapped Labyrinth boot also kicks in at £35.00.

Wheeler added:

“We’re not talking about the original punk look. Dr Martens and outsize shoes with five inch crepe soles are definitely not the fashion. Nor do we recommend accessorising the look by throwing vegetable dye on your hair to colour a freshly hacked orange, green or blue Mohican.

“Instead, try the chic punk boots for adding an edge to your black wardrobe staples. Black satin bombers with micro minis fit the look well, while add a hint of tartan for a more shocking image.”

Both the Odyssey and the Labyrinth are available across the anarchic UK in sizes three to eight from all branches of Shoe Express.
