Sport
Relief, an initiative of Comic Relief, is now in its second
year and as schools have always been crucial in helping to
raise money to tackle poverty and disadvantage in the UK and
overseas, Sport Relief '04 is again asking for their help.
Sport Relief aims to raise money for those who really need
it through a variety of sporting challenges and events. As
part of this, the Sport Relief '04 School Kit has now been
sent to schools up and down the country. The School Kit is
full of good ideas and sporty fundraising information and
resources for teachers and students.
We'd love all teachers
and pupils to get hold of the kit, join in with Sport Relief
'04 this summer and most importantly to 'Go The Extra Mile'
and help us raise money for those who really need it. We're
asking for your help in letting schools and teachers know
about Sports Relief and how they can get hold of their kit.

Sport
Relief, an initiative of Comic Relief, is now in its second
year and schools have always been some of Comic Relief's biggest
supporters. With the help of thousands of schools across the
country, Comic Relief has raised over £310 million since it
began. This money is being spent right now helping those suffering
from poverty and social injustice here at home and across
the world.
Jonathan Smith,
Education Manager at Comic Relief says, "Money raised by Sport
Relief goes to projects in the UK using sport to help young
people whose lives are affected by conflict and violence,
through gangs, territorialism, racism and sectarianism. Internationally,
Sport Relief money will support kids forced to live really
tough lives in some of the poorest countries in the world."
He continues,
"The school kit aims to give teachers all they need to get
students out and active this summer as well as learning an
awful lot. The kit uses real-life stories of young people
from the projects we support to show UK pupils where their
money goes, help them understand the issues behind it all
and start them on a journey of looking at conflict in their
own lives and communities."
After a sporty
summer term of fantastic fundraising fun, on Saturday July
10th Sport Relief is asking everyone, families and friends,
to join in. Venues up and down the country will host the Fitness
First Sport Relief Mile and famous faces from the world of
sport and entertainment will be lining up alongside the public
as the whole nation comes together to be part of a very special
day.
