The
Groovy Food Company has launched its first product, which will aim
to make you bendier than a snake’s boogie. Cool Oil is a natural
seed oil blend of flax, hemp, pumpkin and evening primrose oils.
It’s mixed to give a 2:1:1 ratio of omega 3, 6 and 9 which is considered
the optimum ratio. They are good essential fatty acids, the one’s
our diet often lacks but our bodies crave.
The Groovy Food Company
is the creation of Rosie and Guy Hayward. Rosie was working as a
conservation officer when her increasingly painful back problem
was diagnosed as Ankylosing Spondylitis. At 27 she found that medication
wasn’t touching her symptoms, and after several stays in hospital
she was also diagnosed with Reiters Syndrome, which is an auto immune
condition causing inflammation in different parts of the body.
Rosie
started to take seed oil after reading about the benefits and within
six weeks she started to see improvements, not just in her joints
but in her skin, hair condition and energy levels too. She hasn’t
had a bad attack since 2001 and from this turn around in her life
she decided to start producing seed oil.
“It’s important to stress
that The Groovy Food Company has been created for the right reasons.
Seed oil helped me live my life to the full again. Its benefits
are remarkable not just for inflammation but also for all round
general health for the young and old. To have a company formed due
to such a positive experience of the product is really important
to me.”

Now for the science
bit: Cool Oil is a blend of organic seed oils, that gives, what
we believe, is the optimum ratio of Omega 3, 6 & 9 EFAs (essential
fatty acids) that our bodies require. We developed this by researching
many sources to find out what is commonly accepted as the best ratio
and hence Cool Oil offers a blend of Omega 3, 6 and 9 in the recommended
2:1:1 ratio.
The need for Omega 3,
6 & 9 in our diets has been highlighted recently in many articles.
They are known as essential fats as our bodies cannot create them
on their own, we have to take them in from our food. Oily fish is
one of the best natural sources but not everyone likes fish or the
idea of fish oil. Organically grown seeds such as flax, hemp & pumpkin
seed contain the EFA's we need as well. There has been more and
more research pointing towards the benefits of EFAs in helping to
reduce joint stiffness and pain, maintain brain function, protect
against heart disease, improve skin condition, raise energy levels
and strengthen the immune system. The brain, for instance, is made
up of fat and it is the good fats (EFAs) that it needs to develop
and be maintained properly. These are just some of the many benefits
that research has shown may be experienced from taking Omega 3,
6 and 9, in the correct balance on a regular basis.
