Mog and the Granny
Mog is a kind cat, and she's not exactly
dim, but she does forget things sometimes. Judith Kerr has written
a whole series of picture books about her adventures.
Mog is separated from her beloved Debbie
in Mog and the Granny, because the family is off on holiday to
America. How Mog copes with the changes (she doesn't like them,
you see), and makes friends with the Granny and her own cat is
quite a tale, especially since Mog is a bit of a worrier and
she keeps having (uncannily accurate) dreams about what Debbie
is up to - which leads to disaster when she thinks Debbie is
on her way home.
The book is cheerfully unPC in places (take
a look at the dream about the Person Birds), which may bother
some people; but this is more than offset by the sight of the
Granny charging about in her electric wheelchair and the way
the friendship between her cat and Mog is developed. |
