Princess Aasta Stina Langlo Ordal List Price: £9.99 Hardcover - 25 pages ( 7 October, 1999) Bloomsbury; ISBN: 0747541272 Princess Aasta wants a bear - a real bear. A polar bear. So she advertises in the paper, and chooses KvitebjØrn out of all the bears who apply. Off they go to have fun together, and come back in time for tea... This is a simple tale, told with appealing warmth. However, it appears to be a translation, and sometimes it is just a bit clunky - perhaps, even, ungrammatical (or at least with odd tense shifts): 'It was so beautiful up there, everything was covered in ice and snow. And Princess Aasta would never be cold because KvitebjØrn's fur kept her warm.' I must say, also, that this book has some of the ugliest illustrations I've ever seen. Return to index |
