Bring T-Rex Back to Life...If You Dare!

Free Public Workshop during Half Term Week
Held at the Natural History Museum on
Tuesday, 26th October and Wednesday, 27th October 2004

As half term week is normally uninterrupted X-Box and kid's TV, lock up the remote/control pad, and bring your budding sculptors, archaeologists or even forensic scientists to this exciting demonstration of PegSculpture. Held at the Natural History Museum, this fun-packed (and educational, of course!) workshop is for all the family. A professional forensic reconstruction artist will reveal how to create the face of terrifying T-Rex and Neanderthal Man using specialised techniques honed by experts. The skulls in each PegSculpture pack are cast from museum originals (T-Rex is scaled down of course) and includes facial templates to simplify reconstruction using plasticine-type modelling clay. Numbered pegs are inserted in numbered holes to indicate how much clay to use. Audience members (large and small) will be invited to go up on stage to participate under the artist's expert guidance.

With two ½ hour demos in the morning and two in the afternoon, fans of Waking the Dead can check out Neanderthal Man and Walking With Dinosaurs devotees can tackle T-Rex.

The programme for 26th October and 27th October is,

  • 10.30am and 3.30pm Neanderthal Man
  • 11.30am and 2.30pm T-Rex

There is ½ hour after each demonstration for public involvement.

After the moulding merriment, if a taster wasn't enough, attendees have the opportunity to take home their own kit, as both models are stocked in the museum shop. To make sure you can do it at home like the professionals, you can cheat and watch a fully instructional DVD supplied free with every kit.
