Step by Step

  1. TIP Enlarge template to required size before using.
  2. Cut out the main mask shape from yellow foam using small scissors to cut out the eyeholes.
  3. Use small scissors to cut out the slits in the foam as marked on the template.
  4. Pull the beak over the top of the mask and carefully insert the tabs into each of the vertical slits to hold in position.
  5. Cut out the 2 eye feathers from light green foam, using small scissors to cut out the centre. Place over the mask eyeholes.
  6. Cut out all the eyepieces from black, white and blue foam - align the central cut out holes over the mask eyeholes, gluing the larger white pieces first, then the smaller blue then black pieces.
  7. Cut out 10 black horseshoe shapes and glue onto the eye feathers with the open end facing inwards.
  8. Cut out the outer feathers from blue foam and glue around the edge of the eye feathers.
  9. Cut out the orange beak decoration and glue onto the beak. Draw a dot using black marker pen either side to represent the nostrils.
  10. Insert three coloured feathers into the horizontal slit and secure with a blob of glue. Leave to dry.
  11. Create a hole either side of the mask on one of the upper outer feathers and thread through ribbon.
